July 20th, 2011Featured, News / MediaApril 30, 2011, the UND Ten Percent Society hosted the first annual North Dakota GLBTQA Conference. The event was organized to address the unfortunate realization that a lack of unity and common purpose among GLBTQA individuals in the state of ND exists. This has translated into less effectiveness of members of this community in successfully advancing our status as first class citizens. It was an empowering, educational experience for all and brought individuals throughout the state together in a unified sense of common purpose.
The link below is a powerpoint presentation of one of the workshops offered at the conference. The Progress on the Prairie workshop was lead and created by Joshua Boschee. Other workshops included Homosexuality and the Bible 101, Exploring Narratives of LGBTQA Identity, All Hail the Queen: Drag Culture 101, Transgender, Beyond Binary, Holding the Room: Facilitation tools for social justice leader, and other workshops. We look forward to next year’s conference and highly encourage everyone to get involved, STAND UP, SPEAK OUT!
