About

About Dakota OutRight:
A lack of real knowledge and a great deal of myth and misinformation generate an uncomfortable and unsafe climate for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning (GLBTQ) people in North Dakota. Dakota OutRight, a non-profit organization, was formed in 2004 to increase education about GLBTQ issues, to develop avenues for advocacy, and to foster understanding of the GLBTQ community in central and western North Dakota.
Dakota OutRight provides interactive diversity training to businesses, classrooms and organizations on a local and state level. We also work to promote the health and well-being of GLBTQ people by coordinating with agencies such as the CDC and the North Dakota Department of Health. Dakota OutRight partners with other regional organizations to unify and strengthen our society. A future goal is the creation of a community center to serve as a safe place to conduct meetings and support groups and to offer a library of resources.
Dakota OutRight sponsors an annual Pride Fest weekend to build community, provide education and recognize advocates for GLBTQ citizens. This event offers camping, recreation, concessions, family-oriented activities, entertainment, an awards program, and a worship service. Pride Fest proceeds are used to support the mission of Dakota OutRight.
Mission Statement:
Dakota Outright creates opportunity for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender North Dakotans and their families through leadership in service, development, education, advocacy and action.
